Last year saw the children in the school get remarkably good results in the Key Stage 2 SAT tests for the fourth year in a row. This is yet more evidence of the hard work and talent of the staff here at Belton Lane and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and governors of the school for all of their hard work.
We have come to a point now where we are working as hard as we can for your children and in order to move them forward even further we need to enlist your help. In schools across the country there is a move to ask parents to be more involved in their children’s education.
To help you, we will be putting together leaflets and holding open evenings to let you know how we teach your children and what you can do at home to help. The first of these leaflets has come home with this letter.
We would like to see more of you in school. There are some parents and volunteers who come into school regularly to help us in classrooms and who listen to readers but we need more. So, even if you have only one afternoon a week that you could help, we would welcome your support.
If you would like to get even more involved in the life of the school, we are looking for another parent governor. This involves coming to some evening meetings which might seem daunting, but don’t be put off, the meetings tend to be run in quite an informal way. We will send out the election forms for governors in the next few weeks.
Thank you all for your continued support of the school and I look forward to seeing you all over the course of the coming year.
