School Governing Bodies
All state maintained primary, secondary and special schools, are accountable to their
governing bodies, which in turn are accountable to parents and the community.
The Role of the Governing Body
The governing body is the school’s accountable body and as such:
- provides a strategic view of the school
- monitors and evaluates the work of the school
- signs off the self evaluation process and responds to school improvement service and Ofsted reports as necessary.

Tim Britton - Vice Chair
I am a community governor (although I also have one son at the school and one son who is now attending at Kings) I moved into the area with my family a few years ago and when looking at schools for our children Belton Lane was so clearly the happiest, most vibrant school we visited our choice was an easy one! Becoming a governor has enabled me to become a real part of this school.
As vice chair I am responsible for the finance committee (where we look at the school budgets). Part of what we do as governors is to make sure the school is performing to the highest possible standards and I look after the literacy side of this..
I am the Governor responsible for the website so if you have any comments or anything else you would like to see please do let me know.
