Year 5 First Aid Workshop

Year 5 took part in a First Aid workshop hosted by Inspire+.
Children recapped the emergency numbers, how to call an ambulance for help and the difference between a sign and symptom. We then moved on to learn about bleeding including the 3 different types of bleed and their severity. Children then had a go at applying a bandage if someone needed one. Have a look at our pictures below for this!
Afterwards, we moved on to learning about fractures and dislocations including the difference between before being introduced to a sling. We then practiced applying a support sling for a casualty who has a broken wrist. Following this, children took a look at anaphylaxis, what this means, the signs and symptoms there could be and what to do with an auto injector if this happened.
We finished the workshop off with a demonstration of CPR and what to do if CPR needs to be administered.
